Leonard Knowling Andrews (1900-1935)

Leonard Knowling Andrews was born in 1900, and obtained his theoretical training at Huddersfield Technical College.

He was apprenticed with Karrier Motors, Ltd., and continued in the employ of the firm for a further three years as Junior Draughtsman.

He then entered the Drawing Office of Vulcan Motor and Engineering Works, Ltd., and was subsequently appointed by Crossley Motors, Ltd., as Senior Automobile Draughtsman.

From there he went to Guy Motors, Ltd., in a similar capacity, and some three months before his death was appointed Chief Designer of Vulcan Motor and Engineering Co., Ltd., Southport.

He was killed on November 2nd, 1935, while on a test run, as a result of the vehicle skidding.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1928.
