1883 Company was incorporated as the Barrmill and Kilwinning Railway.

1884 Re-incorporated as the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire Railway, with enlarged powers[1]

1889 Engineer is John Strain.[2]

1908 The line open is 36.5 miles in length and is to be worked in perpetuity by the Caledonian Railway. [3]

1923 Became part of London, Midland and Scottish Railway. [4]
