1874 Advertisement: 'Valuable Cotton Mill, and Modern Machinery, for English and French Reeling, situate in Bolton, Lancashire. Messrs. HAYHURST & TAYLOR (unless previously disposed of by private contract, of which due notice will be given), at the Three Crowns Inn, Deansgate, Bolton, on Wednesday, the 12th day of August, 1874. at six o'clock the evening, subject to such as shall be then produced :
ALL that Valuable COTTON MILL, in full working order, with other outbuildings belonging thereto, called the King-street Mill, situate King-street, Bolton. This property is leasehold, and sold for the residue of a term of seven years, commencing the 12th day of November, 1872, and subject to the yearly rent of £75. and to the covenants on the lessees part indenture reserving the same to be paid and reserved. Also all that valuable modern Machinery for English and French reeling, being in the said mill 79 reels, by Stubbs, Manchester, viz., twenty four 50 hanks, fifty-three 40 hanks, one 30 hank, one 20 hank, one 60 hank, hand reel, one 40 ditto, one 24 drum winding frame for power, by Stubbs; 165 cane cop skips, 26 large ditto on wheels, 20 buffaloes, 150 weft tins, 130 waste tins, five upright waste scales to 15lbs., Salter's patent; eight pairs counter scales; two pairs yarn and one large pair of beam scales all Avery’s make, with weights compete; yarn scale and testers, wrapping machine, four eight-day timepieces, gas fittings, office fittings and table and sundries, yarn cupboards: four yarn presses for 5lb. and 10lb. bundles, by Stubbs; making-up tables, yarn and bale trucks oil sheet covers, and trade requisites. Together with the 12-horse high-pressure horizontal steam engine by Jonathan Edge ; steam boiler 12 feet by 4 feet, by same maker; patent heater, with copper coils; 360 feet polished shafting, from 3in. to l½in. with pullies, fixings; driving straps, steam hoist with rope, frame-work and wood partitions, and all other the tenant's fixtures and effects upon the said premises. The whole of this machinery is in excellent condition, having only recently been laid down, and may be inspected in full working operation any week-day prior the sale. The premises are six storeys high, and adjoining the river.
