JOSHUA JOHNSON was born in Liverpool in 1846, and was apprenticed to Messrs. T. & T. Vicars, now of Earlstown, but who then had works in Seel Street, Liverpool. He steadily rose to the position of Manager in the firm and at the time of his death had been with them for nearly 50 years, being greatly respected by all who knew him. Mr. Johnson was elected a member of the Liverpool Engineering Society on 1st May, 1889, and continued his membership up to the time of his death, which occurred on 28th October, 1911.
