Joseph Nelson (1777-1833)
1777 Born at Birstall, bear Batley. (some say he was a native of Whitkirk, Leeds)
1833 March. Death of Joseph Nelson, of Newsome Green, Civil Engineer, age 55. 'the most eminent builder of light-houses of the day'.[1]

- Bideford (1820)
- Bardsey Island (1821)
- Longstone (1826)
- Berwick-upon-Tweed (1826)
- Burnham-on-Sea lower light (1832)
- Nash Point (1832)
