John and Emanuel Emmet
1806 Sale of Halifax Foundry. 'All that well-known IRON FOUNDRY situate and being at Dean Clough, in Halifax aforesaid, with the Buildings and Appurtenances belonging thereto and therewith occupied, consisting of a large Casting House, Air Furnace, Cupilo and a One-horse Wheel, with Three Pair of Bellows, for blowing such Cupilo; also a Warehouse and Two spacious Yards adjoining and belonging to the said Foundry; and also a small Croft or Parcel of Land adjoining thereto and therewith now occupied, containing One Quarter of a Day's Work and Fourteen Perches, more or less. The above Premises have been established as an Iron Foundry upwards of Forty Years, and are now in full Employ, and several Alterations and Improvements have very lately been made there by Messrs. Emanuel and John Emmet, the Owner, thereof, and the same have every Convenience and Plenty of Room for carrying off an extensive Trade in the Iron Foundry Business, and are very desirably situate for an Iron Founder. The Purchaser of this Lot must at the Time of Sale enter into an Engagement with the Sellers to purchase of them the Stock, Utensils and Implements in Trade, in and about the said Foundry, at a Valuation to be made by Two indifferent Persons, one to be nominated by the Sellers and the other by the Purchaser.'[1]
