1849 Born the son of John Lemon and his wife Betsy Rock

1879 January 15th. Married at Tawstock to Elizabeth Weeks

1881 Living at Pilton Street, Barnstaple: John Rock Lemon (age 32 born Marwood), Millwright Master. With his wife Elizabeth Lemon (age 28 born Tawstock) and their daughter Ethel M. Lemon (age 1 born Pilton). Also his father-in-law John Weeks (age 76 born Tawstock).[1]

1901 Living at 12 Pilton Street, Barnstaple: John Rock Lemon (age 53 born Marwood), Mechanical Engineer and Employer. With his wife Elizabeth Lemon (age 49 born Tawstock) and their two daughters Ethel Mary Lemon (age 21 born Pilton) and Mabel Evelyn Lemon (age 18 born Pilton).[2]

1917 'Mr. John Rock Lemon, for many years partner of the firm Garnish and Lemon, engineers, of Pilton, Barnstaple, has passed away at Westminster Villas, Ilfracombe, at the age of 70. In partnership with the late Mr. P. Garnish, he acquired the engineering business of the late Mr. J. Furze, at Pilton, Barnstaple, and carried it on successfully until Michaelmas 1913. when it was disposed of to the present proprietor. He leaves a widow and two daughters. He was an ardent Liberal and took a keen interest: in Friendly Society work, having been a member of the Foresters.'[3]
