1827 Established by John Robertson.

1896 Incorporated as a limited company, with capital of £250,000, 'to acquire the business of John Robertson and Son, wine and spirit merchants, Candle Lane and Seagate, Dundee; and to acquire from William Brown Robertson, wine and spirit merchant, Dundee, in feu, a piece of ground on the estate of Coleburns, Elginshire, upon which a distillery is being erected, erect the distillery, and carry on the business of distillers therein.'[1]

1915 The Coleburn Distillery was sold to the Clynelish Distillery Co Ltd.[2]

1966 The company changed its name to William Sanderson and Son Limited and it remains a live company
