John Robertson ( -1872) of Robertson and Co

1872 Obituary [1]

Mr. John Robertson, late shipbuilder in Greenock, died at Dunoon, last week, at an advanced age.

The deceased gentleman was well known in Greenock and on the Clyde as a most eminent designer of steam and sailing vessels, and many of his models plying at present on the river, such as the Gael, Kintyre, Sultana, &c., are recognised as being very fine specimens of marine architecture.

Mr. Robertson was for many years manager in the shipbuilding yard of Messrs. Caird and Co., and subsequently he was senior partner of the late firm of Robertson and Co., shipbuilders, Greenock.

He was held in much esteem by a numerous circle of friends.
