JOHN NORMAN KING was born in 1913 and was educated at Sedbergh School, Yorkshire, and Cambridge University, where he graduated in Natural Sciences in 1935. He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Crossley Brothers, Ltd., and in 1936 was appointed assistant test inspector and experimental assistant. During the same period he completed his technical training at the Manchester College of Technology.
He was made production engineer to Messrs. Crossley in 1940, a position which he held until his untimely death, which occurred on the 27th October 1942. Mr. King was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1940 and was transferred to Associate Membership as recently as April 1941.
