1943 John Lilley and Son and Wilson and Gillie, which had already amalgamated, were renamed John Lilley and Gillie.

1951 Represented by Lilley and Reynolds, 9 Railway Place, London EC3

1956 John Calder Gillie and Sidney Kennedy of the company patented "Improvements in or relating to Periscopes"; they also patented "improvements in ships' compasses".

1959 John Calder Gillie and Sidney Kennedy of the company patented "Compass Suspensions".

1961 Moved to Clive Street, North Shields. Patented "Improved apparatus for giving a warning of deviation from a pre-determined course"

1989 The company's immediate parent company was Sestrel International Ltd; the ultimate parent was Kopcke International Supply Services Holdings NV; subsidiary companies were: Lilley and Reynolds Ltd, Henry Browne and Son Ltd and Sestrel Ltd but none of these were trading/ [1]

1992 Patented "Radar reflector devices" invented by John Hewitt Firth

1993 The parent company seems to have been renamed Burleigh Ltd

1993 Acquired Henry Browne and Son

By 1999 John Lilley and Gillie Ltd owned Sestrel Ltd, Sestrel International Ltd, Henry Browne and Son Ltd, Lilley and Reynolds Ltd, Burleigh Ltd, John Lilley and Son Ltd[2]

2002 Lilley and Gillie Ltd, manufacturer of magnetic compasses, acquired Thomas Walker and Son Ltd, adding Walker's electromechanical speed logs and anemometers to the firm's list of products.

2011 Planning permission was granted for the construction of a residential development comprising of 5 no. 4 bed houses, 5 no. 3 bed houses, 1 no. 3 bed flat/maisonettes and 1 no. 2 bed flat/maisonette at John Lilley and Gillie, Clive Street, North Shields, Tyne and Wear NE29 6LD .

2012 The firm celebrated its 200th anniversary as an international operating company with a visit by the Princess Royal to open new offices in Elm Road, North Shields[3]

Now part of Zollner Group marine business division, focussed on equipment development and manufacturing.
