JOHN HARTLEY died at Sheffield on October 19, 1907.
For some years he was engaged with Messrs. James Fairbrother in the wire trade, and in the early seventies he began business on his own account, and built the Newhall Wire Mills, which were afterwards acquired by the late Mr. Robert Hadfield for the extension of the Hecla works.
In 1886 he removed to Heeley, where he subsequently carried on business.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1876.
