JOHN FINLAY MACLAREN died on January 9, 1908, at his residence in Glasgow, in his fortieth year. He was an ironfounder, and part proprietor of the Eglinton Foundry, Port Eglinton, Glasgow.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1890.
