1874 Advertisement. 'LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS, PRIVATE TELEGRAPHS, ELECTRIC BELLS, &c. PUBLIC NOTICE. Mr. JOHN FAULKNER, Practical and Consulting Electrician, of 13, Great Ducie-street, Manchester, begs to announce that he has taken to Mr. Wight's CHIMNEY BUSINESS and LIGHTNING-CONDUCTOR ERECTING, as heretofore conducted at 13, Church Lane, Oldhas, adjoining the Church, and until further notice will have as a depot in Oldham for the exhibition of his various Telegraphic and Electrical Appliances. Mr. Faulkner, in taking this step, thanks his patrons in Oldham and district for their past patronage during a period of over twenty years. 13, Great Dulcie-street, Manchester. 13, Church lane, Oldham. January 23, 1874.'[3]

1875 Society for the Promotion of Scientific Industry Manchester Silver Medal awarded to John Faulkner at the exhibition of appliances for the economy of labour. Inscription on medal is for the Altandae System of Electrical Appliances. More specifically: 75 - Diagrams illustrating waste and economy of magnetic power; 76 - Altandae Electro Magnets; 77 - Altandae Electro Bells; 78 - Altandae Electro Indicators; 79 - Altandae Electro Semaphores; 80 - Altandae Electro Telegraph Sounder; 81 - Altandae Electro Iron and Brass Separators; 82 - Lightening Conductors.
