John Clark Dobbie (c1862-1910) of Dobbie McInnes

Youngest son of Alexander Dobbie, who founded Dobbie McInnes

John became a managing director of Dobbie McInnes, the nautical and engineering instrument makers of Glasgow, Liverpool and London.

With his partners, Mr. Dobbie patented a number of improvements on the compass, the sounding machine and the steam and gas engine indicator.

He was an associate of the Institution of Naval Architects.

1907 Moved to London.

1908 Read a paper to The Institution of Naval Architects on "The Modern Developments of the Mariner's Compass".
