JAMES STELFOX, born on the 23rd June, 1842, died at Belfast on the 11th September, 1910.

Trained under his father, the late Mr. James Stelfox, in the Belfast gasworks, he later succeeded him as Chief Engineer, a position which he filled until within a few years of his death. During his tenure of ofice the gas undertaking developed considerably, and amongst other improvements carburetted water-gas and prepayment gas-meters were introduced.

He was elected a Member of The Institution on the 1st December, 1896.
