. . . . In April, 1880, Mr. Talman obtained the appointment of Colonial Engineer and Surveyor at Lagos, on the West Coast of Africa, which post, however, he resigned towards the end of 1882, when he returned to England, and resided for a time at Broadstairs.
At the beginning of 1884 he removed to Harbledown, near Canterbury, and subsequently took a prominent part in connection with the Canterbury Boundary Extension Inquiry. For the last few years of his life he had an office in Westminster, . . [more]
