JAMES FITZGERALD WINDLE, born at Tarbert, Co. Kerry, on the 16th December, 1870, died at Tipperary on the 17th April, 1914, as the result of a motor-car accident.
He was educated at Queen’s College, Cork, and afterwards acted as Assistant Engineer on the Cork, Bandon and West Coast Railway, under Mr. John R. Kerr.
In 1894 he was appointed Assistant County Surveyor of Limerick, under Mr. J. Horan, M.Inst.C.E., and after twelve years’ service was transferred to the Irish Board of Works. At the date of his untimely death he was acting as District Inspector of Public Works at Tipperary.
Mr. Windle was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 1st December, 1896.
