1913 1st October. Gained Army 2nd Class Flying Certificate

1918. 8th. Sec. Lieut. J. V. Yates (late Gen. List, R.F.C., on prob.) is confirmed in his rank as Sec. Lieut. ; Aug. 4th.

'Chapman's DH.6, registration letters G-EANU, was a two-seater trainer biplane which was painted blue which had received its certificate of airworthiness on 17th December, 1919. It was sold on to Mr. J. V. Yates of Croydon.'
