1904 The Patent 5939 of 1903 to Gardiner Inglis concerning his design of boiler was assigned to the Inglis Boiler Syndicate Ltd

1905 An example of an Inglis marine boiler was tested by various engineers and shipbuilders in Glasgow[1]

1916 The Inglis Boiler Syndicate Ltd, registered office 83, Renfield-street, Glasgow, assignees of the patent, and Gardiner Inglis posted notice of intention to petition the Lords of Council and Session at Edinburgh for an extension of the term of the said Letters Patent for a further period of fourteen years from the date of the expiry thereof, viz., 14th March, 1917[2]
