Hilder Strange was born in 1878.
He served a marine engineering apprenticeship at Cowes, and obtained agricultural engineering experience with S. E. Haward and Co. and electrical and general engineering experience with Sanders, Morgan and Co.
Following automobile work with Wolseley Motors, he became in 1908 Works Manager of Argylls, of Manchester, and transferred in 1910 to the Manchester Taxicab Company, working for two years with that Company in a similar capacity.
In 1918 he established his own business of Consulting Engineers and became well known in the Manchester area as an automobile engineering authority.
He died in December, 1943, at the age of 66.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1922 and transferred to Member in 1931.
