HERBERT THOMAS FRADLEY served his apprenticeship from 1890 to 1895 with the United Alkali Company, Ltd., in Bristol, and remained with the firm as draughtsman and later became assistant engineer and superintendent of erections, a position which he held until 1903. From 1901 to 1903 he also assisted the professor of engineering at the Merchant Venturers Technical College, where he had received his technical education; in addition, he lectured on machine construction to evening classes.
In 1904, Mr. Fradley was elected an Associate Member of the Institution. During the previous year he began his thirty-eight years' association with the Dublin firm of Messrs. W. and H. M. Goulding, Ltd., manufacturers of chemical fertilizers and sulphuric acid. For many years he held the position of chief engineer to Messrs. Goulding and associated companies. His death occurred on 20th May 1941, in his sixty-seventh year.
