HENRY RALPH TUTTON devoted the greater part of his career to the manufacture of cement.
He first joined the Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers as assistant at their Imperial Works at Burham, and became assistant manager.
In 1907 he joined the South Wales Cement Company at Penarth for whom he held the position of works manager for eight-and-a-half years.
Between 1912 and 1914 he supervised the erection of the new cement factory at Penarth.
In 1916 he joined the Brimsdown Lead Company for a short period and subsequently spent three years in charge of acid mixing plants for Messrs. British Dyes.
He then became consultant to the Midland Portland Cement Syndicate and the Irish Portland Cement Syndicate.
In 1922 Mr. Tutton was appointed manager of the Sudan Government cement factory, and he was also manager of an ice factory.
He was born on 10th January 1879, and received his technical education at the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, Bristol, and at University College, Cardiff.
He became an Associate of the Institution in 1924 and was also a Member of the Chemical Society.
He died on 20th June 1929.
