1838 Henry Murray was born in poor circumstances in Paisley.

After serving his apprenticeship as a joiner and working for a time with Blackwood and Gordon he went into partnership with Hugh Paton and James Crawford

1867 they formed the shipyard of Henry Murray and Co at Kingston, Port Glasgow.

1875 Henry Murray left the business. With James Murdoch he founded Murdoch and Murray at Brown Street, Port Glasgow.

Built about 100 ships, all under 2,000 tons

1882 Business sold to Russell and Co.
