HENRY MANTELL was born at Devizes in 1892 and commenced his apprenticeship in 1907 with Messrs. Accumulator Industries of Woking. This firm was taken over in 1910 by Messrs. G. D. Peters and Mr. Mantel continued his apprenticeship until 1911.

He then joined Messrs. C. A. Vandervell of Acton.

On the outbreak of the War he served throughout at the Advanced Mechanical Transport Depot.

In 1919 Mr. Mantell joined Messrs. Burton, Griffiths and Company as general sales manager and was engineer-in-charge of publicity for the allied firm of Messrs. B.S.A. Tools.

He held these positions at the time of his death, which occurred on 31st March 1933.

He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1932.
