1954 Obituary [1]

We have learned with regret of the death of Mr. Henry James Deacon, M.I.Mech.E., which occurred on September 29th at the age of fifty-six.

Mr. Deacon had been on the staff of Standard Telephones and Cables, Ltd., since 1923.

He received his practical training in the Royal Ordnance Factories at Woolwich, and immediately after the first world war spent some time at the Fraser and Chalmers Engineering Works at Erith, prior to joining Standard Telephones and Cables, Ltd.

In the second world war he was largely responsible for the dispersal of his company's activities and subsequently for reconsolidating them in the immediate postwar years.
