1869 Company established, making pickles, sauces, vinegar and cordials.

1898 Incorporated as a limited company.

1914 Pickle and sauce manufacturers. Specialities: "Military" pickle, "Military" sauce, "Old English" pickles, "Karjat" chutney. [1]

1929 Advert for 'Military' Pickle and other products. Manufacturers of the "Military Pickle", the "Military Sauce", "Old English" Pickles, Sauces, Chutnies, Capers, Flavouring essences, lemon Squash, Lime Juice Cordial, Non-alcoholic Wines. (Foodstuffs etc. Section - Sand Nos. L.37 and L.39) [2]

Later Hayward's Food Products Ltd, maker of Haywards (Pickles)

1956 the Haywards trademark was sold to Edward Manwaring Ltd, where the brands amalgamated to form the Haywards brand.

1963 Hayward's Food Products was acquired by the Melbray Group. [3]. Incorporated in Hayward-Peck Holdings Ltd, with Harry Peck and Co[4]

1970 Hayward-Peck and Melbray (pies) was acquired from Melbray Group by Brooke Bond Oxo (a member of the Brooke Bond Leibig group).[5]

1979 the company moved from London to Bury St. Edmunds, where the factory is based today.

1985 Brooke Bond was bought by Unilever, further mergers and acquisitions followed

1990 Hillsdown Holdings acquired Premier Brands

1991 Hillsdown Holdings established Haywards Foods as a subsidiary

1993 Renamed H. L. Foods

Acquired by Premier Foods

2012 The Haywards brand was bought by current owners, Mizkan Euro.

2015 the Haywards Pickles brand was relaunched, offering delicious new recipes and exciting stand-out packaging.
