HAROLD DRINKWATER JACKSON became associated in 1891 with Professors Barr and Stroud in the design and construction of their range-finders whilst taking a two years' course in engineering science at Glasgow University.

He afterwards became manager of the firm of Messrs. Barr and Stroud and in 1903 a partner. Upon the reconstitution of the firm as a limited liability company he became a director, and at the time of his death, on 14th January 1928, was managing director.

Mr. Jackson had served an apprenticeship of five years as a marine engineer with The Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company.

He was in his fifty-eighth year and was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1900 and a Member in 1906.
