1957 The Hire Services Company is founded by Bert Taylor.

Became part of Scaffolding (Great Britain) Ltd

1967 SGB's subsidiaries of Hire Shops Ltd and Hire Service Co (London) Ltd had 22 shops between them[1]

1968 Scaffolding (Great Britain) merged its 2 hire subsidiaries, the Hire Service Company and Hire shops Ltd., to become Hire Service Shops Ltd.

1970s Branches included Birmingham, Cardiff, Southampton, and Manchester.

1980s HSS Event Hire and HSS Lift and Shift established.

1985 HSS had 100 shops nationwide[2]

1986 SGB was acquired by John Mowlem

1987 HSS was part of John Mowlem Group. Acquired Dale Plant Hire from Dale Electric[3]

1993 John Mowlem sold HSS Hire Service Group to Davis Service Group. HSS had 206 shops and depots, catering for the small plant DIY hire and the builders tool hire markets[4]

2003 Management buyout[5]

2015 HSS Hire Group plc was listed on the London Stock Exchange

2015 Acquired UK heating, ventilation and air-conditioning hire company, All Seasons Hire
