HMS Prince Consort

From Graces Guide

This ship was laid down at Pembroke Dockyard as a line-of-battle ship, on the same lines as HMS Gibraltar

Afterwards she was cut in two, lengthened 23ft., and, like HMS Ocean, reduced to a two-decker.

She was first called the Triumph, but this name was altered to the Prince Consort.

1862 She was launched in June, 1862. Her engines, 1000 hp (nominal), were made by Maudslay, Sons, and Field and drove a screw for propulsion but the screw would be free to rotate when she was sailing under canvas.

1863 Started her sea trials[1]
