"GEORGE RAYMOND LEWIS was the chairman of Messrs. George Lewis and Sons, Ltd., Manchester, manufacturers of trimmings, and had been associated with that firm and its predecessor, Messrs. George Lewis and Company, throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship, from 1900 to 1908. After completing his education he entered his father's firm and was admitted to partnership in 1908. On the conversion of the business into a limited company in 1934 he became director and chairman and held this position up to the time of his death, which occurred on 22nd August 1949, in his sixty-seventh year. Mr. Lewis was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1939."
