GEORGE JAMES CROSBIE DAWSON, born at Liverpool in 1841, died at Stoke-on-Trent on the 14th June, 1914.
He served a pupilage to the late Mr. Robison Wright, of Westminster, and afterwards joined the engineering staff of the London and North Western Railway, remaining 21 years in the Company’s service, during which time he was associated with a variety of important work.
He was next for 3 years Chief Assistant Engineer to the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, and in 1886 he was appointed Chief Engineer to the North Staffordshire Railway Company, a position which he retained until his death. During his tenure of this office, he relaid practically the whole of the permanent way and carried out considerable improvements and extensions of the system.
Mr. Crosbie Dawson was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 4th December, 1866, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 27th March, 1872.
