Frederick William Leam rendered useful service to the Institution as Honorary Secretary of the Pakistan Advisory Committee from 1952 to 1954.
He joined the Burmah-Shell Oil Storage and Distributing Co. in 1930, and served at a number of their installations; he was employed with the company at the time of his death, which occurred suddenly in Delhi on 7th March 1955, at the age of forty-nine.
His technical education was gained at Derby Technical College, during which time he also served an apprenticeship for five years in the Chief Mechanical Engineer's Department, Midland Railway Works, Derby, where he remained for a further period of four years.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1945, and was transferred to Member in 1954.
