FREDERICK AUGUSTUS FRANKLIN died on his way to Australia on the 4th February, 1909, aged 75.
After a period of training on English railways, he secured employment on railway construction in India, leaving that country in 1865 to go to New South Wales, where, with some intervals, the remainder of his career was passed. He was engaged under Government on the construction of railways and bridges, and also practised independently in Sydney, where he was responsible for the design of the Centennial Park and other works.
Mr. Franklin was elected a Member of The Institution on the 3rd December, 1889.
