. . . . In 1888 he went to South America, where he was employed on the engineering staff of the North Eastern Railway of Uruguay, and subsequently on the Central Uruguay Railway.

From 1891 to 1894, as Engineer and Manager to the Lower Californian Development Company, he had charge of the construction of the Peninsular Californian Railway.

Subsequently Mr. Holdsworth was employed as Assistant to the Superintendent of the Beaver Hill Coal Company at Oregon, and at the end of 1886 he went to New Zealand, where he was engaged for ten months in carrying out surveys for water races at the Collingwood Gold Fields. . . . [more]
