FRANK ADDY HOPKINSON was born at Huddersfield on 14th October 1863.
He was educated at Huddersfield College and Alderley Edge Grammar School.
In 1879 he began a five years' apprenticeship with the firm of J. Hopkinson and Co., Ltd., Britannia Works, Huddersfield, in its early days, and on its completion he took an active part in the management of the works, becoming a director, and subsequently Vice-Chairman.
On the death of his uncle, Mr. Joseph Hopkinson, in 1907, he became Chairman of the Company. He took a special interest in the Huddersfield Engineers' Training Association, and in the work of the Huddersfield Engineering Society, of which he was President for three successive sessions.
His death took place at Harrogate on 1st July 1917, in his fifty-fourth year.
He was elected a Member of this Institution in 1909.
