1813 Fenton, Murray and Wood put a steam engine, boiler and paddle wheels in an old French privateer formerly named L'Actif and owned by John Wright.

The engine had an 8-inch diameter cylinder with a 2-feet 6-inch stroke

The boat plied for some years between Norwich and Yarmouth carrying 107 passengers. Later the engine and boiler were moved to another boat that worked the Medway
