1907 Company founded in Derby by F. W. Gilbert, who's family had been in the milk trade since 1868.[1]

1923 Managing Director: Herbert Edwin Hornby (1872-1952).[2]

1924 The Bristol branch of F. W. Gilbert Ltd. and the Norton St. Philip's Dairy Co. Ltd. were acquired by by Herbert Edwin Hornby (1872-1952) to form Hornby's Dairies Ltd.[3]

1946 Managing Director: F. W. H. Gilbert, son of F. W. Gilbert.[4]
