Established at Red Lion Street by Frederick Samuel Cleaver. The business, however, originated as far back as 1770

1906 F. S. Cleaver and Sons Limited was incorporated.[1] The flotation was described as a risky task of resuscitating a business with fallen fortunes, the business having been carried on by court-appointed receivers and managers since the death of the proprietor a year before, and with the purpose of returning it to family ownership.[2]
