Location of Ancoats Factory: Goad's Insurance Plan of 1928 shows the factory at the south end of Mill Street, occupying an area of about 150 ft by 100 ft, bounded by Mill Street, the Rochdale Canal, a garage, and the clothes factory of James Harrop & Co. The 1891 O.S. map shows the two factories had previously been used as a wire works
