1914 Obituary [1]

ERNEST COLLINS, born in 1851 at Harefield, died on the 20th April, 1914.

After serving his articles to Messrs. Ruston, Proctor & Company, of Lincoln, he represented the firm of Hopkins, Gilkes & Company for some years, both on the Continent and at home.

In 1880 he joined the staff of the late New River Company, and at the time of its transfer to the Metropolitan Water Board he was Engineer of the undertaking.

In 1905 he was appointed Engineer of the greatly enlarged New River District, and retained that office until his retirement in 1911. He was Chairman of Council of the Hampstead General Hospital.

Mr. Collins was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 6th May, 1884, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 11th January, 1892.
