Educ: Brighton College; Entired Army, 1872: Captain 1884; Major 1891; Lt.-Col. 1898; Col. 1903; served Afghan War, 1878-79; Mahsud Waziri, 1880, N.W. Frontier 1897-98; served nine years with Bengal Sappers and Miners; seventeen years in military works service; Chief Engineer, Eastern Command, till its abolition; retired, 1908.
