EDWARD L. DE ROMAGA, formerly President of the Republic of Peru, died at Arequipa, Peru, on the 26th May, 1912.

Trained as an engineer, he served first in the Public Works Department of India, was Assistant Engineer on the Madeira and Mamore Railway of Bolivia, and subsequently constructed gas, water-supply, electric-light, and other important public works in and near Arequipa, Peru. He was elected President of Peru on account of his professional position, and held office between 1899 and 1903.

Mr. Romana was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 14th May, 1872, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 25th April, 1912.
