EDWARD JAMES CASTLE, K.C., Recorder of Bristol, died in London on the 27th April, 1912, aged 70.

The son of Professor H. G. Castle, of King’s College, London, Mr. Castle, after leaving college, joined the corps of Royal Engineers, in which he served 7 years, part of the time in the West Indies.

In 1868 he relinquished engineering on being called to the Bar. He acquired a considerable practice, became Queen’s Counsel in 1888, and was Recorder of Winchester from 1888 to 1897, when he was appointed Recorder of Bristol.

Mr. Castle was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 21st May, 1867.
