EDGEWORTH RICHARD USSHER, born in Canada on the 15th June, 1839, died at Dunedin, New Zealand, on the 13th April, 1916.
He obtained his earlier practical experience in Canada, leaving that country for New Zealand in 1863. For some years he acted as an officer of the Roads Department, and after an interval of private practice, as an assistant engineer on railway construction.
In 1887 he was appointed District Engineer at Otago, and continued in this position until his retirement in 1908.
He was elected a Member on the 2nd February, 1886.
