Edgar Leonard Foster was born in 1894.

He obtained general workshop experience before joining the Daimler Company in 1912 as Engine Fitter, Examiner and Finisher. In 1915 he became Assistant Supervisor of the Aero Shop and after two years was appointed Assistant Supervisor of the Commercial Vehicle Department.

He left the Daimler Company in 1920 to become Manager of County Carriers, Ltd., St. Helens.

From 1923 until the time of his death he worked as Transport Manager to Greenall Whitley and Co., Ltd., of St. Helens.

He died on 31st March, 1943, at the age of 49.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1940.
