Mr E. P. Peregrine, B.Sc. (Member) was educated at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Carmarthen, and the University College of Wales, Swansea. He received varied apprentice training, including a College apprenticeship with the then Metropolitan-Vickers at Trafford Park. His first professional appointment was as a designer of electric motors for mining purposes with that Company.

He was appointed to an assistant lecturership at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Liverpool University, later becoming lecturer, being engaged in teaching design, doing research on creep, and studying hydrodynamics.

In 1942 he became involved in the intense development programme of jet propulsion engines, first with the Rover Company and then with Rolls-Royce.

In 1945 he was appointed Chief Research Engineer to PAMETRADA at Wallsend-on-Tyne. Since 1950 he has practised as a Consultant, specializing in mechanical engineering design and development work.

Mr Peregrine joined the Institution in 1939, was a member of the Eastern Branch Committee from 1956 to 1962, and is a member of the Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics Group Committee. He is a joint author of an Institution paper and is also a member of the Institutions of Civil and Electrical Engineers. He is a member of the British Standards Committee on Gears.
