Dreft is a popular laundry detergent in the United States, Canada, UK and other markets.

Upon its inception, Dreft was touted as a significant improvement over the soap suds of the day, but it proved best at treating only lightly soiled clothes and not heavy loads.

The slogan for Dreft is "For a Clean You Can Trust" and it is generally marketed to mothers of newborns.

As Dreft does not leave a lime scum deposit nor does it contain harsh chemicals such as bleach, it is suitable for fine washables such as silk or wool as well as flame resistant fabrics.

1933 First produced by Procter and Gamble being the first synthetic detergent in the United States.

1937 Launched in the UK.

1940s Targeted at washing linens for babies.

1984 Dreft Automatic launched in the UK.

2002 Dreft Dark launched in the UK.
