1865 The firm of Davey, Paxman and Davey founded by James Noah Paxman and the brothers Henry Davey and Charles Davey when Paxman entered into partnership with C. M. and H. M. Davey at the Standard Works in the centre of Colchester

1866 Davey, Paxman and Davey announce that they have taken over the business of the late Mr. Dearn at the Standard Iron Works, Culver Street, Colchester. [1]

1871 October Thomas John Balls joins the partnership of Davey, Paxman and Davey and the business becomes Davey, Paxman and Co

1876 The business had grown so rapidly that it was found necessary to move to a more extensive site, also called the Standard Iron Works.
