D. J. K. Stuart MA (Cantab) PhD Fellow began his industrial career as a development engineer with Armstrong Siddeley in 1945. His work with them concerned gas turbine engines and followed his three years at Cambridge University which led to a first class degree in the Mechanical Sciences.

In 1948 he left industry to return to Peterhouse, Cambridge, as a postgraduate research student.

In 1951 he started with Austin Motor Co as a senior development engineer, and two years later became Deputy Chief Development Engineer, rising to Chief Research Engineer with BMC in 1957.

1963 took him to H. W. Ward & Co where in 1966 he attained the position of Technical Director.

The following year he moved to Brockhouse Engineering Ltd, who manufacture torque converters and hydraulic converters, becoming Managing Director in 1968. He is currently with Automotive Products Ltd.
